JYOUMI DIGIMON

THIRD DIGIMON COUPLES
JYOUMI

Episode 2: The Birth of Greymon

Palmon tells Mimi she thinks Joe likes her. (Dub insert)

Episode 26

In the original, after Taichi says he "wants Sora's love too" Jyou responds by saying "Taichi, you dummy. What do you think you're saying?" Mimi then responds "Jyou-senpai, shall I give you some of my love?" But then she just gives him some seeds.

Episode 45: The Ultimate Clash

When Mimi decides to leave the group, saying she doesn't want to see anyone else fight or get hurt, Joe stays to protect her.

Episode 50: Joe's Battle

When Palmon brings up Mimi's charming nature, Joe blushes while the others giggle.

Movie: "Our War Game"

In the English dub of "Our War Game," it was seen that one of the mails Mimi received while she was in Hawaii was given by Joe, in which the mail was heart-shaped with laces. In the original Japanese version, this was merely a name plate.[1]

Evidence from Outside the Series

In the first volume of the Digimon Tamers Tokyopop manga, two characters resembling and named after Joe and Mimi walk through the background. Joe says to Mimi "I really like you, Mimi." and she replies "Oh, you really mean it, Joe?", a potential reference to the common fan-coupling of the two characters.

Speculation

  • In the end Mimi is paired up with several people in the series; however, we don't have a clue to who she eventually is paired with.
  • In the Digimon Adventure novels, Joe is revealed to be Mimi's camp counselor, which may have some explanation for his protectiveness of her; because of his natural protectiveness and the fact that Joe would have stood up and protected other potentially weak members as well, Mimi may not necessarily be the object of his affections.
